Shem El was born and raised in New York and currently resides in Durham, NC. He has studied, researched, written, and spoken for over 20 years in the fields of comparative religious studies, Semitic languages, world history, law, metaphysics, and philosophy.
Shem El is a long-time member and teacher within the Moorish Science Temple of America (https://federationmstofa.org/). He was initiated into the Muridiyya Sufi Order (founded by Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba) and facilitates classes at the Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba International Sufi School (https://www.787touba.org/). He is the co-founder of the Uplifting Humanity organization and author of several books.
Shem El is the host of the "Master Minds w/ Bro. Shem El" podcast, which is widely listened to and broadcast throughout several countries. He is also a sought-after speaker, due to his ability to relate to so many people of different ages and backgrounds.
